The design of the Pulse Elite shirt is quite unique with a mesh vent down the middle of the back of the shirt. I felt cooler in this shirt while walking and working out compared to the Anything Shirt. I believe both of the shirts are made from the same fabric. They both are stretchy and have a nice drape to them. Both shirts also have a soft smooth hand feel and are comfortable to wear and not restrictive. The shoulder seams are also contoured slightly around the shoulders which I believe is to give it a more comfortable feel.
I am wearing the size Small for both shirts however I believe I may have been able to get away with a size Medium. I usually wear an XS in Uniqlo and other US sized items. But since Strongbody Apparels smallest size is the Small that’s the size I went with. Due to the fabrics elasticity I would say that if you’re in between sizes probably size up to the next one, especially if you have a muscular build.
In terms of performance I found these shirts to be excellent for working out. They dont let you overheat and breath very well. Especially the pulse elite shirt with the extra ventilation built into the back. The shirts material is quick drying but not wicking. Water instantly absorbs into the material instead of beading off. Unfortunately, although they’re advertised as odour resistant I definitely found that they held odors and smelled like they needed a wash after just one use. In contrast to merino wool which doesn’t absorb odor like nylon material tends to.
The price of Pulse Elite shirt is USD$72 (AUD$94) and the price of the Anything Shirts is USD$62 (AUD$81) which is somewhat at the higher end of the price spectrum for nylon based performance wear but considering that they’re made in Canada and of high quality material I feel the price is justified. Overall these are some excellent pieces of techwear, especially for working out or doing yoga in. I personally think I’ll stick with merino wool baselayers. However I am greatly looking forward to Strongbody Apparels Gastown (techwear) Jacket which is available to back on Kickstarter here.
